Contemporary Linguistic Politeness in Polish Language and Postmodernism

Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses changes in the Polish model of politeness caused by the postmodernist way of life and thinking. Starting with the observation of polite phrases from the 1970s, theauthor of the article has pointed out the main elements of a new model of politeness: the simplification of realisational variants of individual functions of politeness, an inclinationtowards the ease of manner, word-game, a feeling of communicational freedom, the elimination of formulae which reflect connections between interlocutors, their hierarchy and social group.
