Summary/Abstract: The thematic collection explores the ongoing "war on gender," tracing its roots from Susan Faludi's 1991 book "Backlash" to contemporary anti-gender movements. Despite significant feminist achievements, a well-organized, well-funded network of anti-gender actors has emerged, transcending traditional apolitical discourse. This network includes populist far-right leaders and liberal actors, exploiting anti-gender rhetoric for political gain. The collection highlights the global nature of anti-genderism, its impact on policies, and the emotional toll on activists. It also examines the intellectual foundations of anti-gender discourse and its transnational networking. The articles provide diverse perspectives, from the lived experiences of Polish activists to the geopolitical use of anti-gender rhetoric in Kazakhstan. The collection underscores the need for further research on the demand side of anti-gender discourse.
