Summary/Abstract: The 19th century, in which innovations and technological developments were experienced all over the world, also affected the Hungarian people and artists. As a result of urbanisation and factoryisation in this period, Hungarian artists had to adapt to changing conditions. Balázs Badár and Kalman Bozsik were the leading artists who emphasised Hungarian local motifs and production. During this period, Badár and Bozsik participated in many exhibitions with their works in the cities of Mezotur and Kunszentmarton and achieved great success both in Hungary and in various countries of the world. In memory of the "100th Anniversary of the Turkey-Hungary Friendship Treaty", the works of these two artists were presented to the Turkish audience with an exhibition titled "National and Modern: Ceramic Art from the South of Hungary" at the Hungarian Cultural Centre between 1 June- 2 September 2023.In the article, the contributions of Balázs Badár and Kalman Bozsik to Hungarian local ceramic production are described. The relations of these ceramics produced by both artists with Ottoman ceramic art are analysed in detail. Finally, the organisation and processing of the exhibition are also discussed.
