Efficiency via the rationalisation of bank management

Summary/Abstract: The possibilities for increasing bank efficiency through the rationalisation of investments and the mobilization of bank capital are investigated in this paper. An analysis is made of the banking sectors role in economic development and the economic crises related to this. The conclusions show that the wealth of banks can always be increased when attracted capitals predominate within the structure of liabilities. The need for the rationalisation of short-term investments aimed at the engagement of a smaller quantity of personal capital for this purpose is argued. The need for creating and using an effective methodology for the internal audit of banks is established.
