Summary/Abstract: This article scrutinises the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion on Kosovo’s independ-ence declaration, exploring submissions from Serbia, Kosovo, and key stakeholders like the USA,United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, Spain, and France. The authors delve into legal arguments re-garding Kosovo’s secession, emphasising state sovereignty versus self-determination. By dissectingthe ICJ’s decision and legal principles invoked, they shed light on complex international law dynam-ics related to geopolitical conflicts over statehood and self-determination. By synthesising analysedperspectives, the article offers insights into the intricate legal and geopolitical dynamics surround-ing Kosovo’s independence and contributes to the broader discourse on self-determination andstatehood in international law.
