From Patristic Homilies to Hymnographic Creations. A Parallel in the Case of the Birth of St John the Baptist

Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to make a comparison between the eastern hymnographic creations incorporated in the service of September 23 and June 24 (the conception and birth of Johnthe Baptist) and the homilies LXXXVI-XCII of Saint Peter Chrysologus. The main purpose is to identify a series of topoi, highlighting the existence of a unitary tradition both in the East and in the West that used the same hermeneutic keys to interpret and develop themeanings of the first chapter of the Gospel of Luke.
