The Medieval Necropolis of the Old Church of Saint George, Tecuci – 13 September Street

Summary/Abstract: The preventive archaeological research of “The medieval necropolis of the old Church of Saint George, Tecuci – 13 September Street” site was carried out in 2022 having the objective of discharging the archaeological planning condition of an area proposed to be crossed by a public water pipeline. Only 8 sqm were investigated from the entire area (named Cassette 1). Four archaeological features (burial graves) dated from the Middle Ages (XVI-XVII centuries) and a monetary hoard deposited in a ceramic pot, dated in the XVII century were discovered during the site investigation.
