Summary/Abstract: The archaeological site “Negrileşti – The Schoolyard”, investigated for the first time in 1981, has offered, in the past few years, numerous archaeological items which suggest that the area situated next to the basin of Bârlad River has been continuously inhabited by humans, from the Early Neolithic until the present days. The researches carried out in 2014 led to the opening of six new excavation surfaces, two excavation units in the area D7-E6 (“Stadium”) and four excavation units in the area C3-C4 (“At Deck” and “Pine”). In the area D7-E6, the excavations unearthed the stone foundation of a water pool and clay pipes that were integral parts of the water adduction system (from the “Ţimpoca” hill to the boyar’s manor - 19th Century AD). In the four excavation units opened in the area C3-C4, Cas.1/2014, Cas.2/2014, Cas.3/2014, Cas.4/2014, 35 housing complexes, dated in the Neolithic, the Bronze Age, the 4th Century AD and the 8th – 10th Century AD, and artefacts from the 19th Century AD were unearthed. The 35 housing complexes have been identified as follows: 21 sewage pits, two provision pits, four fire installations, four dwellings and four repositions of archaeological materials.
