The EU strategy for the Black Sea Region and the duality paradox of the regionalization process

Summary/Abstract: The present study examines the Black Sea regionalization process taking into consideration the newly voted project of the European Union concerning the creation of a strategy for this region. The primary assumption of the study differentiates between two main sets of contradictions present within the regionalization process, which on the one hand have hampered the development of the regional project and on the other hand, paradoxically, have been a source of defining the region, significantly contributing to its current geopolitical significance.
