Summary/Abstract: The Amateurism in art and the way modern people perceive is brought into discussion here. Starting from Wayne Booth's book " For the Love of It" the author shows that amateurism has lost its original meaning, and gained a negative connotation very different from the e.g. 17th century people would give. The origin of the word is the Latin "amare" meaning love, passion and pleasure. In art the amateur is therefore a passionate who takes pleasure in performing. The author of "For the Love of It" who was himself a passionate cello player, welcomed the amateurism strictly in art noticing its bad consequences in other fields. Whatever binds the genuine love, passion and pleasure - words that define amateurism - to the professionalism is the modesty and "humiliation" in front of real Art.
