Summary/Abstract: The Lemkos were resettled during the ‘Vistula’ Operation for their cooperation with the Ukrain- ian Insurgent Army (Ukrayins’ka Povstans’ka Armiia, abbreviated UPA) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (Orhanizatsiya Ukrayins’kykh Natsionalistiv, abbreviated OUN). Based on Polish and Ukrainian documents, the author reconstructed the actual support of Lemkos for OUN and UPA, as well as the degree of domination of the Lemko Region (Lemkivshchyna) by the Ukrainian nationalist movement. The analysis shows that this was only a pretext for the authorities, and the problem of the Ukrainian underground could have been eliminated in another way. This resettlement was a form of ethnic cleansing and was undoubtedly a demo- graphic weapon.
