Summary/Abstract: The article analyses selected poems written between 1939 and 1945 and dealing with the issue of rescue. The poems of Stanisław Baliński, Tadeusz Borowski, Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński, Leon Zdzisław Stroiński, Tadeusz Gajcy and Czesław Miłosz have been analysed. The author points out particular tendencies in the treatment of survival, the subject, he claims, tackled first by the older generation of poets. He also describes a pattern observable in wartime poetry of depicting the tragedy first and then presenting signs giving hope for the future rescue.
