Summary/Abstract: The article is an interpretation of the novel by Bolesław Prus, Dziwna historia (A Strange Story). Its purpose is to show how the author of Lalka (Doll) experiments on the traditional model of the presented world and, as a result, modernizes the concept of realness. He presents it as not exactly defined and somehow fluid in form. Such an interesting topic is being bolstered by the time of the small novel's publishing – the time of Christmas Eve, when Prus had presented many extraordinary works to the audience.
