Summary/Abstract: The text is a polemical review of the monograph by Sławomir Łotysz, devoted to the interactions between nature and the inhab- itants of Polesie from the nineteenth century to 1945. The crucial element of the article is a discussion with Łotysz’s approach to the issues of the interwar period, especially with interpretations of the determinants of the policy con- ducted in this area by the Second Polish Republic’s authorities.
