Summary/Abstract: I dedicate this study to a short extract from the second book of Hugo of Saint Victor’s im- portant, extensive, and as yet unavailable in Polish work De sacramentis christianae fidei, namely to the section entitled On the dedication of the church – in the Latin original: De dedicatione Ecclesiae. The fundamental purpose of this work is therefore: to provide a Pol- ish translation of the indicated text. However, in order that the native reader may enjoy an in-depth reading of the submitted translation, I have provided it with, firstly, several dozen of commentaries of various kinds and, secondly, a handful of the most indispensable, con- cise introductory information.
