Forma sanctitatis et omnium imago virtutum Ivo of Chartres’ Sermon on the Meaning of Priestly Vestments

Summary/Abstract: The present article is devoted to one of the sermons of Ivo of Chartres, namely the sermon in which the indicated author explains the meaning of the various vestments that the priest puts on for the celebration of sacred services. The reader will therefore find here a proposal for the first translation of this oration into Polish along with its original Latin text. The text of the translation is accompanied on the one hand by concise commentaries, and on the other by an introduction which briefly presents Ivo’s biography and bibliography, and goes into some detail about the content of the relevant sermon.
