Summary/Abstract: As a landmark in village life, the bench at the gate, found even today in Romanian rural settlements, occupies an important place in interpersonal/interpersonal communication, registering a certain conduct, attitude and communicative behavior in full connection with the purpose, cause and effect of the act of communication itself, being the "great-grandmother" of today's technology. Starting from: its role, place, construction, occupants and migration, the gate bench still remains the "keystone" of rural communication and today having its well-defined personality in relation to: the house, the gate, the fence and the village street.
