Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on discussing the results of research on legalism. The research was conducted in the years 1996, 2007, 2009, 2020 and 2022 on a Polish representative sample. The results show a systematic increase in the frequency of declarations of legalism. Legalism is the basis for the efficient functioning of modern liberal democracy. However, in a der Doppelstaat (Dual State) situation, it is necessary to ask to which legal order legalism applies.
