Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the main theses of the famous book Emil czyli o wychowaniu of Jean- -Jacques Rousseau. Rousseau’s views on education were compared with contemporary educational and scientific views. Some of the French thinker’s theses are also valid today, but many others should be approached with some caution or even rejected.
