Summary/Abstract: This article addresses the problem of the importance of roles in the family in the context of two apostolic adhortations: John Paul II Familiaris consortio and Pope Francis Amoris Laetitia. In the family, although it is not equally defined by different scientific disciplines, there are a number of roles depending on its type. The analysis uses one of the most famous family classification in sociology, proposed by Franciszek Adamski, to distinguish small, large and large modified families on its basis. The adoption of such a typology made it possible to define the roles of wife, husband, mother, father, sister and brother in small and large families, extending them to the roles of grandmother, grandfather, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew and cousin in large modified families.
