Summary/Abstract: The cry of the Christian to the saint is a cry for intercession: Ora pro nobis! – “Pray for us” and it is heard on the lips of many to the host of the departed near to the throne of God, the great “cloud of witnesses” whose voices join together with the angels singing and hymning the Creator’s praise. This veneration – not comparable with divine service to God – is a characteristic of Abrahamic devotion among believers of the three faiths. Exceptional attention in Christian faith is given to Mary the young woman who bore Jesus as his mother and who becomes the exemplar of faith to Muslims as well.
