Summary/Abstract: The first Christians were Jews, belonging to Jewish culture, which is an integral part of Semitic culture. The first Muslims belonged to Arab culture, also an integral part of Semitic culture. The introduction of a religion to a culture is known as inculturation. If the two Abrahamic faiths of Christianity and Islam are wholly equated with a single culture, they betray their essence, lose their universality, and cease to be universal religions open in essence to every culture.
