EXISTENTIAL ENCOUNTER IN EDUCATION AND SPIRITUALITY

Summary/Abstract: The introductory part points to the features of existential encounter as an ontological category in which existentialia of ‘Being Throw into the World’, ‘Care’ and ‘We – Beings of the Human’. The paper then analyses main aspects of existential encounter during the education of the young, namely the forms of ’Being for another’ (‘Being for school’, ‘Being for friends’ and the like), and generally moral being. The paper then points to certain aspects of obstruction of existential encounter during education, such as neurotic thematisation, ‘Being a good pupil’, certain forms of being in a scrape, and double-bind communication in the education process. As the possibility of enriching existential encounter during the education, what is offered is fostering spirituality, that is, religiousness as the aspect of devising overall existence of a young man and as a medium of his moral improvement. The conclusion states that possibilities of improving spiritual dimension of existence as a content of existential encounter of the young during their education are not fully used.
