Summary/Abstract: In Serbia some church denominations exist with centuries, and their prevalence and unit strength in membership where changing and where becoming more complex with the society development and the changing of the political power. During the last decade of XX century, while in our society came to revitalizing the religion, many denominations become reactivated and enlived. At the same time, that was fertile soil for spreading new religious movements. In time when many religious denomination escalated, it came to intezivated spiritual searches in our nation. Still, the multitude of organizations rather confused people. Many self- called sectologists, also religious extremists, inadequately, through the media, were forming public opinion on the question about religious organizations, derogatory calling all the religious organization, except the establishment churches- sects. Who really are the sect? How do the work? Finally, how much is our public really informed about topic? These are the questions the author is dealing with in this article. At the same time, the purpose of this article is to show the fact of differences between destructive sectarian organizations and well-intentioned and praiseworthy religious organisations.
