Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to show the concepts and models of educating speech therapists in Poland and the development perspectives of educating these specialists. The diagnosis was made on the basis of the analysis of legal acts, literature on the subject and secondary analysis of existing research. Today, in the context of the draft Act on certain medical professions, this topic is prevailing. The document above, due to the selective, medical understanding of the role of speech therapists, places them in a position which, according to the Polish Logopedics Association, the Polish Logopedic Society, the academic community and speech therapists-practitioners, is inappropriate and may significantly affect not only the professional status of a speech therapist, in society, but also change the education system in the said profession.
