Summary/Abstract: Passion plays an important role in human life. In its harmonious version it can positively affect all its aspects. In the literature on the subject, it is relatively easy to find answers to questions about the reasons why people develop their passions, as well as about the benefits they derive from their involvement. However, there are no studies on the origins of human passions. The aim of the article was to show, based on the results of my own research, the circumstances in which people discover their passions. The authoress used the case study strategy, in which she conducted eight interviews (in-depth, semi-structured) with people with passions. The conclusions of the conducted research are as follows: a) most of interlocutors discovered their passion in adulthood, b) the passions were developed by the narrators on the basis of their innate predispositions or abilities, c) the impulses that triggered passion in interlocutors were either a strongly experienced real-life experience, or the need to meet a challenge, or a sudden change in life.
