Summary/Abstract: Considering the fact that organ donation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, not to mention cadaveric donation, is in its beginnings the consciousness of people regarding these issues is generally low while at the same time the citizens are not adequately informed or they are even misinformed by their religious officials about their religious community’s standpoint on this issue. Bearing in mind that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s society is profoundly patriarchal, the research based on the focus group method has been undertaken on the convenient sample (N=69) of the participants from the Canton Sarajevo who belong to various religious groups with the aim of establishing whether there are any gender differences in comprehension of the question, how the families make decisions regarding the question and what their arguments are. The results point to the fact that in the area of organ donation the matrix of hierarchal dichotomic gender policy where the male is perceived as the head of the family and as such has the main role when a decision taking about the donation is in question, as well as the fact that citizens are not informed about the official attitude of their religious communities which affects their decision of (non) donation.
