Summary/Abstract: Sport today is multidimensional and extremely complex phenomenon. Besides the competitions themselves, the area of sports includes: social, psychological, economic, political, educational, scientific, medical, physiological, cultural, legal, religious and many other values. In this paper, we devote full impact of the presence of religion in sports. Sport is a social phenomenon, with specific social functions and as such is an expression of certain social needs. Mutual relationship of sports and religion, were the questions for their explanation must take into account the social framework and contemporary trends, dominated by industrialization and urbanization. As a religion – in contempoary society, sport is becoming a subject of interest of people of different profiles. Sport is one of the fundamental social institution, is inseparable from the structure of society and institutions: family, economy, media, politics, education and religion, as well as an integral part of everyday life of people around the world. Sports attracted research attention, as a pattern of behavior, characteristic of the creation of the modern man. An important feature of this approach is an effort to supply the scientific language of the entire Index, which contemporary sociology (and within it, and sociology of sport) "operate". In other words, the sociology of sport this approach combines: research methods, conceptual apparatus, the specific types of issues and points of view.
