Summary/Abstract: This article outlines the activities of the communist authorities, whose aim was to limit catechesis and secularize church education in the years 1945–1975 in Radom and the district of Radom. The presentation of this subject matter was made possible by a search the author conducted at the State Archives in Kielce and Radom, the Archives of the Institute of National Remembrance in Kielce, Radom and Warsaw, and the Archives of the Sandomierz Diocese. The article discusses the following spe- cific issues: the liquidation of schools and educational institutions run by religious orders, the removal of religious instruction from educational institutions by 1960, removal of crucifixes and restrictions on parish catechesis. The analysis of the above issues clearly shows how much the communist authorities wanted to interfere in the upbringing of children and adolescents. However, the clear opposition of students, their parents and the local clergy prevented the transmission of basic religious truths to the young generation from being completely stopped.
