On the question of (non)artistry of Fallen Leaves by Vasiliy V. Rozanov

Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on determining if Rozanov’s Fallen Leaves belongs to literary texts. The article defines the category of the artistic text and identifies its criteria, which are typical for all literary texts. Based on these criteria, it is confirmed that Rozanov’s work does not belong to literary texts, although it contains some of their features. For further confirmation, Rozanov’s text is examined through the prism of several other criteria, including the textuality criteria of Beaugrande and Dressler, along with an analysis of linguistic and stylistic means used by Rozanov. The carried out analysis confirmed the originality of Rozanov’s Fallen Leaves.
