Summary/Abstract: In this article I discuss online interactive documentary projects in terms of their participatory possibilities. The interpretative key is provided by the concepts of numerous theorists and practitioners in this area of expression, such as Kate Nash, Sandra Gaudenzi, Jon Dovey and Mirko Tobias Schäfer. I divide the text into three main sections on relevant aspects of the issue: the production process, social practices and ethical issues. The text closes with a postulatory section, focusing on the construction of a ‘framing’ to safeguard the rights of all those involved in a given participatory project.
