Summary/Abstract: An outstanding author of a monograph on the life and works of Jerzy Nowosielski outlines initial parallels between the thoughts of the Cracow-based theologian and the religious reflections of Miłosz. The joint motif proves to be the mystery of suffering. The presented text is also an introduction to Nowosielski’s unpublished lecture: Suffering in Art, discovered in the painter’s posthumous papers.
