Summary/Abstract: This article compares the normative and the real definition of administrative inhabitant reporting obligation in Berlin, Vienna and Prague from the beginning in 19th century to the end of World War I. Author analyzes the evidence ways, diplomatical charakteristics of documents and their usefulness as a historical source.
