Summary/Abstract: The folklore material collected by Timotei Popovici during his life belongs mainly to the genres of: Cântec proper and Doină, Colind and Cântec de stea, game songs. The folklorist's special interest in these genres of popular music result from consulting articles, studies and volumes of folklorists from the first half of the twentieth century on these issues that he sought and hosted in his personal library. His importance in discovering, collecting, hoarding and promoting the repertoire of the Winter Holidays cycle was recognized and appreciated by many of his contemporaries, George Breazul, one of those who recognized his merits and dedicated him a volume of Carols.
