Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article are three novels about an outstanding Polish poet of the Renaissance and a burgher from Lublin — Sebastian Fabian Klonowic (ca. 1545–1602). Klonowic wrote and published poetry in two languages — Latin and Polish. The books by Lucyna Sieciechowiczowa, Moralista i waganci [Moralist and Wagants] (1958) and Za Krakowską Bramą [Behind the Krakowska Gate] (1960) were published with children and young people as recipients in mind. Biographical novel Żywot szczęśliwy Sebastiana Klonowica [The Happy Life of Sebastian Klonowic] by Danuta Bieńkowska (1965) is aimed at youth and adult readers. The article concerns the mentioned works and their edition as examples of the transmission of historical and cultural education — regional (Lublin and Zamość themes) and at the same time nationwide education in literature.
