Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the factors influencing the competitive ability of the region. These factors are used in order to create the efficient tourism system. The conception and principles of the sustainable tourism development and their application are analyzed in order to solve the problems of the preserving the cultural and environmental identity as well as the historical heritage of the region, and thus to avoid assimilation with other regions, maintaining the competitive advantage.
