Summary/Abstract: The papers deals with the situation in the three largest estates in Carpathian Ruthenia till the end of World War II. The introduction aims to outline general charactersitic of nobility and its possessions in Carpathian region. A special attention is paid to economic circumstances of estates of Mukačevo (Munkács), Dovhe (Dolha) and Čonak (Csónak), as well as to history of the estates and fates of their respective owners, namely of families Schönborn-Buchheim, Teleki and Schönberg. The estate Mukačevo with the area of more than 132,000 ha. was the biggest economic unit all across Czechoslovakia during its inter-war existence. The emphasis is put, from the chronological point of view, on the time after the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia, a short notion is dedicated to the ongoing land reform
