Summary/Abstract: This article summarizes the most important regulations of the right of access to public information on the levels of international law, EU law, national law and two selected countries – the Czech Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany. The indicated comparison of regulations on the right of access to public information as a fundamental human right was made by means of a comparative legal method. The second part of the article is the presentation of field research carried out in selected units of bodies constituting the administration throughout the country, in the field of information on the activities of bodies and their meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic and the execution at that time of the principle of openness of the activities of bodies and their accessibility to citizens.
