Summary/Abstract: Cash transfers constitute an important source of income for households. These cash transfers are used to take care of the basic needs of the family. In a context of food insecurity characterized by food shortage period becoming longer in particular in the sub-prefecture of Morondo, this study attempts to understand how cash transfers can help to best manage the hungry period. It is therefore to achieve this objective that this study was carried out. For the acquisition of data, a literature review was carried out in order to assess the state of knowledge on the topic. It was followed by a field survey which took place in two phases aimed at identifying not only the survey localities, but also the households to be surveyed. In total, 100 households were surveyed in five (5) localities. Questions were administered to all the households to find out the uses of monetary transfers. The results show that several uses of funds are made in the context of managing the food shortage. The amounts received are used to improve household accessibility through the purchase of food. The surveys also show that at least 30% of households strengthen their livelihoods by creating income-generating activities.
