Summary/Abstract: In research on tales, the problems of language, speech, communication, or its rejection are rarely the main focus. Most research has been carried out on the language of animals. However, animals, plants, meteorological phenomena and cultural artifacts use language and speech not only in magical tales but also those of other kinds, mainly animal tales, anecdote-tales, and etiological tales. This study surveys the motif of language in various kinds of tales.
