Summary/Abstract: Armed actions are perceived to be one of the highest forms of resistance against the Communist Party in Czechoslovakia. At the same time, they can also provoke strong emotions, all the more so when they are associated with human victims. The killing of alleged security-services collaborator Jiří Hradecký, which occurred near Varnsdorf in September 1949, is an analogous case. The aim of the presented study is to not only take a closer look at the fate of this highly controversial figure, but to also place his death within the wider context of armed resistance against the communist regime. In this context, however, the conclusions presented are not entirely exhaustive, but rather outline certain possibilities for further, more detailed research.
