Summary/Abstract: The article evokes the life and personality of Saint Luke of Crimea: Saint Hierarch of the Church, confessor, unmercenary doctor, a well-known surgeon, teacher and author of countless medical science works, a distinguished preacher in times of atheism and oppression. Being gifted with artistic talent, he gives up on art during his youth, wishing to help his neighbor through medicine, believing that “I have no right to practice what I enjoy, but do anything to help people who are in pain”. In 1917, after the Revolution, he feels that “this manner of serving humanity was unsatisfactory, therefore he became a priest”. This choice was the beginning of an eleven-year period of imprisonment and exile but, according to his own words, this was also „the path of God’s glory”.
