Summary/Abstract: One of the most relevant topics on the agenda of public conversations is undoubtedly the war in Ukraine, which was in full swing at the time of writing, not only in the sphere of discussions among specialists in history and geopolitics, but also among the general public, especially for Romania, given the proximity of the war area. Considering these circumstances, it is only natural that the specialised literature should meet the public's growing interest. One of the most interesting works on this subject, recently published by Litera in 2022, is The Lost Empire. A History of Russian Nationalism from Ivan the Terrible to Vladimir Putin by Serhii (Sergei) Plokhy.
