Summary/Abstract: It is the aim of this paper to explore the way one of the first global crises, described in the Bible, could be regarded from different angles, and as such, pro-vide a better understanding of God’s providence but also of different conditions that human beings’ find themselves when a crisis occurs. This first crisis that is under scrutiny in this paper occured in the times of Joseph, whose story ends the material of the first book of the Bible, the book of Genesis. As such, and this the thesis of this paper, the crisis is a context of revelation not only of God’s character but also of human beings’ character. The first condition analysed is that of Joseph’s brothers, for whom the crisis is the occasion for the revelation of a guilty conscience. The second condition analysed, is that of Joseph, for whom the crisis is the occasion for the revelation of his pure character. Third, the crisis is the occasion for the revelation of God’s providence, expressed in his protective care and motivated by his steadfast faithfulness.
