Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the need to renew the soul and heart through prayer. Gogol lived in private prayer. He also prayed for others. He even encouraged them, saying that he was interceding for them (family, friends, readers). Practical elements of prayer are very often found in the works of Gogol. They, in turn, show the life and work of the writer, and practical elements for the daily prayer of the believer can be extracted.
