Summary/Abstract: In this text, the religious revival is discussed as a continuous process that evolved in Serbia from 1990s until nowadays. The historical and cultural contexts of this process are described, but also underlined less explored field of liturgical renewal which reflected inner transformations of life of Serbian Orthodox Church. These parallel flows – one that was focused on collective identity strategies and the other related to personal spirituality, shaped religious revival in Serbia. Aim of project to which articles in this issue are dedicated is to research believes and religious practices of the so-called active believers of SOC. Thus, this paper also brings overview of preliminary research results and announces complexity of the phenomenon that will be analyzed in further readings of rich ethnographic material collected during field work in different regions of Serbia.
