Summary/Abstract: The Czech Republic accession to the European Union is the chance and opportunity to achieve suitable social and economic level also at the regional and rural area. The article is based on research and performed statistic analysis of the demographic structure of the South Bohemia rural villages. The monitoring and analysis of the social and economic situation at the regional and rural area is the first of the steps in the process of the regulation and development of the Czech regions.
