Summary/Abstract: The focus of this article are specifics of Turkish islam which influence the values of Turkish people significantly. According to public opinion polls conducted in Turkey these values differ from most other muslim states. Article compares these values and explain differences on historical background. It comes to conclusion about compatibility of turkish islam with democratic values and prospects of its democratization.
