Summary/Abstract: The text aims to present what, according to contemporary Polish conservatives, is the specificity of conservative discourse. The problem considered in the work is enclosed in the question: how representatives of the symbolic elites of the Third Polish Republic who considered themselves conservatives perceived their goals in the public debate, what is permissible in it to defend the conservative order and how, in their opinion, conservatives should participate in the public debate. It was important for them to cultivate the heritage of Polish and European conservatism and classical philosophy, as well as to protect the social role of the Catholic religion and Tradition. They also tried to have their institutional and modernization proposals taken into account. Their language was varied, but many authors used terminology that was difficult for the public. It was a conscious choice resulting from the desire to emphasize the importance of the postulates raised or the expert nature of the statement. As a result, although some conservative proposals influenced the adopted legal solutions, the shape of the public debate was influenced primarily by positions inspired by conservatism combined with other ideological trends.
