Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to an exploration of classroom activities aimed to promote the acquisition of Academic English in the L2 environment across the principal communicative activities. It is argued that teaching Academic English at the university-level is presently confronted with a number of obstacles due to the current global tendencies toward the spoken medium of language on the one hand, and, more locally, English curriculum cuts in Lithuanian higher education institutions. To facilitate academic language learning, the author assumes a multifaceted approach and combines some of the US and Lithuanian methodological practices. A discussion of activities follows intended to raise awareness and stimulate acquisition of relevant academic vocabulary in Lithuanian learners of English. The author believes that the activities proposed may be further extended for use in other L2 environments as well.
